Help bring in-store access to every adult in Fairfax

Today, only medical cardholders can shop in person. We think every responsible adult 21 and older should be able to, and the Town Council can make that change.

Right now, only medical cardholders can shop in store in Fairfax, a rule that has been in place through the past year. We hear a growing number of residents who feel that every responsible adult 21 and older should be able to shop in person, with or without a medical card, just as neighbors in nearby communities already can.

We are respectfully pursuing an amendment to the Town's cannabis ordinance that would allow adult-use retail sales at our existing, licensed storefront. If you are a Fairfax resident or a supporter and you agree, the single most effective thing you can do is let the Town Council hear from you directly, in your own words.

What would actually change

Stays exactly the same

  • The building, the location, the parking
  • Hours of operation
  • Security requirements
  • Buffer zones from schools
  • Identification checked on every visit
  • Nobody under 21, ever

The one thing that changes

An adult 21 or older could shop in person with a valid government-issued ID, instead of needing to obtain a medical card first.

That is the whole amendment. It is a council decision, and it does not require a ballot measure.

Email the Town Council

Below is one of sixty short letters written by neighbors. UseTry a different draft until you find one that sounds like you, then edit it freely. Put your name and Fairfax address at the bottom.

One request. Please only send a letter that is actually true for you, and add a line of your own if you can. A council can tell the difference between sixty real neighbors and one form letter sent sixty times, and the real ones are the ones that count.

Other ways to help

Town Council meetings are open to the public, and public comment from residents is the most direct way to be heard. If you would rather speak than write, that carries real weight. And if you know neighbours who feel the same, ask them to write in their own words too, twenty genuine letters land better than two hundred identical ones.
